How do I pay my bills?
For my day job I work in a School District as an IT Specialist. I also freelance as an IT Consultant my Consulting Company is called Comrald Computing Services. I also do some freelance work on the website Fiverr. You can check out some of the gigs I offer here. You can also check out some of the services I offer on my services page. In the past few years I’ve been getting less and less computer repair calls. People are more likely to throw their broken machine away then get it repaired. I decided to take my work online and start doing freelance work online.
Where did you go to school?
I went to California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA. I have a Bachelors of Science in Applied Computer Science with a minor in Communications. I also have a masters in Multimedia Technology. What does all that mean? I know how to program. I picked up a few skills in Audio and Video communications. As For my masters I’m able to create Multimedia projects. Computer based training, Instructional Videos, Tutorials, etc.
What makes you tick?
I’m a geek. I love to figure out how things work. I also like to figure out more efficient ways to do things. My dad taught me how to solder at the age of five. While most kids were spending their allowance on toys and games. I was spending mine on parts from Radio Shack. My dad bought a 200 in 1 electronics kit from Radio Shack and it was one of my favorite toys. My favorite toy was a construction set. My dad who was a jack of all trades introduced me to power tools at an early age. I attempted to build all sorts of things growing up. When I was ten my dad bought our first computer. a Tandy 1000sx. It was very surreal at the time. Not many people had computers at this time. With a computer at home I started expanding my skill set in an entirely different world. I learned about word processing, spreadsheets, computer graphics, and I even started learning how to program.
Problem solving has always come naturally to me. That paired with the creativity has spawned a lot of interesting stories and projects. In college I built myself a loft bed and basically tripled my storage capacity.
Where are you going with all of this?
In October of 2012 I decided to try to do more freelance work. I bought some kindle books on freelancing online and stumbled across a book on writing articles. This lead me to the website Fiverr. I started writing reviews for smartphone apps. I didn’t make a lot of money, but I enjoyed trying out new apps and helping people improve their apps.
One day I received a direct message through twitter asking me If I would write app reviews for their website. I accepted and started to write full reviews for their website. After some talking via email she started to realize I did more then just write articles.
One night on Skype she explained to me what Internet marketing was and how I could use my skillsets to do more freelance work. I started to ask question after question. She then introduced me to the warrior forums. This was a gold mine! I started to download as many free guides as I could. I then used the money I earned from Fiverr to buy some of the pay guides.
For the past two months I have been reading as much Internet Marketing material I can get my hands on. One of my friends needed help setting up a WordPress site for his sister. Over coffee at a local Panera while teaching her how to edit her site we started talking. She was also into Internet marketing. Between all of my research and the constant questions I kept asking, I was able to wrap my head around the concepts of Internet marketing.
My first misconception of Internet marketing was that it was nothing but spamming people, I was very wrong. Just like anything there is good and bad. Some of the guides and articles I read seem to be a little spammy or incomplete. I decided I would give a few methods a try and see what happens. Hence the creation of this blog.
